So this is the first fic I've written in awhile, as well as the first I've written for the HP fandom. Constructive crit is always appreciated, especially as I think this might be a bit repetitive. Enjoy! ;D

Summary: Pomona Sprout reflects on the aftermath of the Triwizard Tournament. GoF Spoilers
There's a pain that sleeps inside
It sleeps with just one eye
And awakens the moment that you leave
Though I try to look away
The pain it still remains
Only leaving when you're next to me
Walking slowly back towards her rooms, Pomona Sprout let out a heavy sigh. Her eyelids heavy with unshed tears, she contemplated all that had occurred in the last several hours with the disastrous conclusion of the Triwizard Tournament.
The sudden disappearance of Harry Potter and Cedric Diggory. The subsequent arrival hours later- Harry towing the dead body of poor Cedric behind him. The revelation that a Death Eater had infiltrated Hogwarts and sabotaged the tournament in order to kill Harry, followed by the demise of said Death Eater at the hands of Dementors. Most important, however, was Harry’s news that You-Know-Who had returned.
It was all a bit too much. Cedric had been one of her favorite students. He had been a bright and charming boy, friend to all he had met. Being selected as the Hogwarts Champion, he had given Hufflepuff a chance to bring some glory to one of the more overlooked Houses at Hogwarts. Watching as he had closed in on the center of the maze, Pomona had not been the only member of Hufflepuff to rise to her feet, cheering for all she was worth. Even as he turned back, helping an injured Harry Potter to reach the finish, she had felt her heart swell with pride at the young man she had taught for so long. Then, with a sudden flash of light, they were both gone.
Seeing Harry bent over poor Ced’s unmoving form had broken her heart. Restraining her students, she could hardly hold back her own tears. After directing the Prefects to return the students to the Common Room, she spent the next few hours attempting to comfort them as best she could, knowing it could never be enough. After their departure, she had gone to her students, trying to ease their grief as well as her own.
Now, hours later, she could no longer hold back her tears. As she opened the door to her rooms, she saw Filius standing there, looking just as lost as she. For a moment, all she could do was stare sadly at him. As he strode forward, he took her in his arms without a word. Clutching him back just as tightly, she let loose the sorrow she had been carrying since the end of the third task, knowing that in the days to come, she would have at least one person at her side to count on. Darkness was looming on the horizon, Pomona knew, and in the final fight, she could not let poor, brave Cedric Diggory die in vain.
