Title: Swish and bloom Summary: this is a drabble. How could anyone make the summary of a drabble? Notes: in Italian, they were 100 words. This has been my first drabble at all (November 2007), and it is CR! Thanks to Elo who betaed it. Rating: anyone, really.
Dedicated to Jayejaye.
All my joy was in the harsh, penetrating smell of dust in my friend Ollivander's shop.
The fragrance was emanating from the case of a new wand, subtle and light in my hand.
And I thought that my life was good enough for me.
My youth, spent among ancient books and new challenges...
The thought I could not... don't laugh... measure up to a woman.
But then I met her. And before her, I smelled her scent.
That scent of leaves, flowers, stems coming up, full of hope, not asking how or how much they will grow.
My woman and her plants are teaching me to be upbeat, breathing a new spring.

Sorry to repeat what I said in my email but that line about measuring up to a woman really is poignant. It makes me want to laugh and cry all at once. It's like watching his new lease of life unfold on the page before me. I feel his happiness in the words. It says so much for a drabble and I really believe how good they are for each other. It truly is wonderful, and I am so glad you translated it.

Oh that is beautiful...really beautiful. I have to agree with Elo, the line about not measuring up to a woman brought a lump to my throat. I love drabbles, the challenge of trying to convey a whole story in so few words and you did it perfectly :-) Oh, and I love that Filius noticed Pomona's scent to describe her...for some reason that just seems so right.
Thank you for dedicating it to me :-D

I loved this Saki. The girls are so right about that line. It just sums up so much in their relationship. Beautiful job.

I love this, it is simplicity itself. I love the way his view, his favorite scent/smell changes from the dusty shelves of Ollivander's shop to the second to last line: That scent of leaves, flowers, stems coming up, full of hope, not asking how or how much they will grow.It says so much in so very little. I also love the way his ideal seems to change from lingering doubts and age to those we identify with spring: new life, joy and being 'upbeat.' Cheers, Stef =o)
