So, short story long, my grandmother had an appendectomy Sunday night. She was at church Sunday- we took her -and was fine. Then around 3:30, Grandpa decided to take her to the hospital because her side hurt. We got there around 4:30 or 5. They called in the surgery team (from home) after doing some tests. They took her back to do the surgery, then called us back there because her pulse was so high, 166. It took forever for them to get a Cardiologist to call (even the ones supposedly on call), but eventually someone called back so they had a game plan. She went straight to the cardiac care unit after surgery and they got her settled (which took around 3 hours). We got to see her near midnight and I didn't get to bed until 2ish after taking Grandpa home, putting together Grams' clothes and things to take back the next morning, and collapsing as a sobbing mess in Adam's arms once the day was over. I was back up at 7:30 and off to pick up my grandfather to go to the hospital. She was confused and out of it most of the day. She didn't even know she had surgery the night before until we told her. Needless to say, I was concerned. She did get better as the day went on and we ended up taking her home. Adam drove me through freezing rain and snow to get back to their apartment, after going there to get things to stay for a few days. I have stayed there the last two (?) nights and will stay tonight. She is doing much better, I am still a knot of stress. It has been a long week and it is only Wednesday. I have training this Friday and Saturday, then plans Saturday night with my best friend.
Long story short, I haven't been around this week and won't be much till next weekend. I love and miss you all! Have a great week! If someone would be willing to step up and handle the polls and things for the challenges, you would have my eternal devotion.
Thanks all.
Laura
