elemental transfiguration.
OK, so doing some research for my Brian story (ADMM and FFPS)...
Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration (from DH chapter whatever), there are 5 principal exceptions to what a wizard can conjure.
One cannot magically conjure (from nuttin' honey): Money, Love, Food, Potions...
My question is what do you think is the fifth thing? I guess "a wand" but that could be off base. You can PM me or post here. Thanks!

I have been wondering about that myself. I don't think it is a wand, because they can be made out of pieces of wood... On the other hand, making them come out of thin air? I just don't know.
It could be hope - or happiness, because that is in the same category as love, but that might be a bit far fetched...
I haven't been able to find it on the lexicon (my trusted companion) or in the book itself. I hope somebody here can help you out.

But doesn't a wand have to have a "core" item (e.g., phoenix feather)?
Anyway, maybe I just won't mention item #5 (LOL). The HP lexicon is wonderful, and supposedly (pleasepleaseplease) JKR is going to publish a big HP encyclopedia at some point.

Hmm, cores of phoenix feather, or unicorn hair are difficult to find, but there are also wands with a core of different wood, am i right? I would have to look it up. Yes it is my afternoon and i am skipping school today because i have tonsillitis (i think that is the word, my tonsils are infected...) DNA is sooooooo interesting, but i am afraid i have no idea what RNA is... i only took 3rd degree biology. And no math. Or physics. Or science... I did read a lot though  Oh a half day for you! Well i hope you will anjoy it and you can have some fun with your little boy! |
