Title: A Lesson in History
Summary: Poppy has fixed Pomona up and now has to fix her as well! (Yeah, it has been a while since I wrote one of these.)
Rating: All
“I just wanted it to be a little longer. I had no idea this could even happen!” Pomona’s voice seemed very distant as Poppy looked for her friend.
She had stopped by for a chat, knowing Pomona would be nervous about the blind date; a date she was due to meet in – Poppy glanced at her watch and groaned – thirteen minutes. Granny, their nickname for the older woman in her rocking chair that guarded the Hufflepuff Head’s rooms, had warned Poppy that she might be a bit surprised by what was going on behind the door, but she had not been prepared for what awaited her.
“Pomona, I don’t even know where to begin. I can’t find you!”
There was hair everywhere. It filled every nook and cranny of the room and each time Poppy tried to move closer to what seemed to be the origin of the long locks, at least she assumed the lump under the mass of hair at the far end of the room was Pomona, her friend would cry out that she was pulling her hair.
“You have to do something, Poppy! It’s still growing!”
Just as Poppy decided on a plan of action, bundling up the hair a bit at a time until she found her way to Pomona, there was a knock at the door. It opened before she could say anything and there stood Filius. Poppy stood with her mouth slightly agape as she looked at the shorter wizard. It had taken months for her to convince he and her friend to go on this blind date and she was not about to see it ruined by a miscast charm.
"We have everything under control, Fil. No need for you to be here." She tried to shoo him out of the room.
"Filius?" Pomona's voice sounded strained and Poppy could only imagine how embarrassed she must have felt.
"I was just walking by on my way out to... Well, out, when Granny mentioned I might be of some assistance. What happened?"
"I-I'm going out tonight, too, and I wanted my hair to be just a little longer. I tried one of the spells in the Witch's Weekly I found in the staff room, but it wasn't supposed to end up like this! I cannot even find my wand in all this mess."
She could see the concern on his face and knew there would be no point in trying to be rid of him now. "I've tried the usual spells to stop it from growing and nothing works. I haven't even been able to get to her because it pulls when I walk on her hair."
Filius looked relieved, which was an odd expression Poppy thought as the hair was now up well over his knees and still growing. With a quick flick of his wand, Filius was levitating over to Pomona's end table where the Witch's Weekly lay open. He settled down on the table and after a glance at the page, flicked his wand again. A bright light cleared the room of hair and left a clearly naked Pomona, covered only in pillows from her sofa laying on the floor. Poppy watched Filius watch his friend for a moment too long before he caught her notice and blushed. He quickly made his way out of the room before anything could be said.
As soon as the door shut Pomona laid back against the floor, covering her face in embarrassment. "Oh for Merlin's sake, of all the wizards to come to the rescue, why him?" Poppy tried not to laugh as she helped Pomona up and encouraged her to get ready for her blind date which she insisted her friend still go on.
As she gave a last brush to Pomona's hair, trying her best to ignore all her friend's questions about her date and alternatively what she thought Filius was thinking of her, Poppy asked the question that had been on her mind since the odd events of the evening began. "Pomona, what on earth was the name of that spell? I want to avoid it at all costs."
"Oh, the spell? Well that's the worse part. You see, I should have known this would happen. I mean I know the story! Even muggles know the story even if they don’t realize she was a witch. If only I had paid more attention or thought about it, then Filius-“
“Pomona, the name?”
“Oh, um, it’s The Lady Godiva.”

Poppy was still giggling as she watched the surprise and happiness on Pomona and Filius face as they met at The Three Broomsticks for what she knew would be a very successful evening.
It has been longer than I even want to think about since I wrote something. Sorry this is a bit rusty.
