I thought it would be nice to have a thread that celebrated musicals. I love them. In fact, i really really love them. The last one i saw was Mamma Mia and i cannot wait until it comes out in DVD so me and my friends can have a good sing-along including some loverly cocktails, like we did with Hairspray and Chicago. I still have to buy Moulin Rouge, if only for the part where Ziegler sings Smells like teenspirit!
I would love to hear from everybody what musicals they love - i know for a fact that Sprinkles loves her musicals too and i saw that Smaug didn't wrinkle her nose at Mamma Mia - so: lets share!

I love musicals. I love to sing and there is something that is just fun about musicals. They are great for a sing-a-long! I wish I could come along, Daphne!
I love 1776, Wicked, Rent, Mame, Avenue Q, Hairspray, Into the Woods, Spamalot, The Phantom of the Opera, Gypsy, Sweeney Todd, Damn Yankees, South Pacific, The Producers, Chicago, Le Mis, Lion King, Urine Town, Curtains, Beauty and the Beast, and many, many more.
I have a bit of an addiction, yes.
Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him. Job 13:15
I love musicals too! I know almost all the songs from Grease (I love Kenickie and Rizzo together) and Evita by heart, and now I'm pretty intrigued with Sweeney Todd. Yesterday I've been singing "Twas Pirelli's Miracle Elixir, that's what did the trick, sir, true, sir, true" all day long... lol^^ Anyway, my favourite one is and will always be Moulin Rouge! I could watch it again and again, I would never be fed of it. But you know me, I don't like Christian... Harold is my love! XD
All generalizations are false, including this one. (Mark Twain)
"You're like a mother, ripe and warm, Land where my love has grown, To you, my dear Big Apple, With hope, your Little Son."
Grease is not a favourite of mine, personally. I mean it is good, but the story just doesn't get me right there like TSOM does. They are re-releasing it for the anniversary. It was advertised when I went to see Mamma Mia.
I love "Grease", it was my first musical. There are a couple of Dutch musicals that i really loved, "Foxtrot" and "Heerlijk duurt het langst" were definately in my top ten.
I will be seeing "Wicked" soon, and i would love to go see "We will rock you" - i love Queen, so i am betting it will at least be larger than life. Since i did grow up in such a different culture, most of the musicals Sprinkles names, i never saw. But i did see "Jesus Christ Superstar", which i loved and now i am wondering if Disney animations are musicals too - like "Jungle book", "Robin hood", or "Bedknobs and broomsticks". I saw Mary Poppins in London last year - it was so magical seeing it in the theatre.
However you want to put it though: they are great fun and they lift my spirits. There is nothing like a little Julie Andrews to make you feel better when feeling depressed. "Victor/Victoria" is really great on a rainy afternoon, when your friends and men deserted you.
Wicked, Mamma Mia, Lion King, and Hairspray are all pretty good. We just did Into the Woods as a school production not to far back though and now I can't stop singing the songs.
That's probably the best and worst part about musicals: The songs are great, but once they're in your head, they never leave
