Right now we are set up for the second option. I personally loved not having to log in, but I think it is worth not being lazy.

I am very lazy, actually. But I've set my browser in order to automatically log in, and I have to type my username and pwd just once a month or so, anyway. I believe that we should spread "the word" - well, I mean, the CR pairing - all over the world, and this would be harder if we were the only ones to access these boards. So I think the second option can assure us both safety against spammers and chances to get known.

The second one.
On one of my other forums back when I was staff there too we had a lot a problems with this. And although I missed this entirely on here I can imagine completely. Sigh. I agree that it was no one here, which is better than it being someone here like I've experienced as it just causes lots of trouble. The problem is that it got so bad we had to have new members on admin approval. Because these sad morons will happily spend their time getting 10 fake email addresses to sign up with. And I'm hoping it doesn't get that bad. How bad was it exactly?
I think that this is the best method for now, because forums you have to join to even see any of it are a complete pain.
