 Think Spring!
« Thread Started on Mar 8, 2009, 1:23am »

Okay so I just posted in the Songs of Spring thread and it got me to thinking... After the long (or not-so-long, depending on where you live) winter, what makes you think of spring? What does it take for you to acknowledge that Spring has finally sprung?

The days lengthening, when there is still daylight when i leave the building i work and when the dawn breaks as i wait for the train pulls into the station, red, orange and pink streaking the skies.

edit:

I really feel as if spring is coming when the days are lengthening. When i leave the building where i work and there is still daylight and when there are pinks and reds and oranges when you are on the platform waiting for the train in the morning.

-The above is what happens when i try to post an entry while not having slept at all and i try to do it with my iPhone. Hope the second one is a little more... legible.-

When it finally rains when there's no snow on the ground. The smell of the rain on the pavement is so delicious, but I live in the country, so I usually drag my sisters out and we go for a walk in the woods behind our house. The smell of the rain in the woods is SO YUMMY. I just love it.

When the sun finally shines with that delicious warmth that winter sun lacks, and the cherry blossom is on the trees, while daffodills and primroses poke their heads above the ground. When the evenings stay light longer, and people start to throw off those horrible heavy winter clothes, of course since I live in damp old britain it'll probably rain all summer and we'll have to throw our winter clothes back on again. That's why I love spring, it's always glorious after the dull grey winter, and before the dull grey summer.

When I feel full of new energy, and can run outside and play with the dog, and dream of getting a puppy. :)

The "fun" thing about living in Ohio is you get to experience the "first day" of spring over and over again. Today was beautiful! The sun was out and sharing its warmth. The grass was bright green and the trees and flowers were budding all over! Of course, we have had at least two of these days, maybe more, already this year, but they were both swiftly followed by snow storms. I'm hoping Spring will stick this time!

It was like that yesterday here, the grass looked lovely as the sun shone through it. It hardly ever snows here, though we were lucky to have some last winter, just a couple of inches. I did enjoy the snowball fights lol. Now though I long for sun and warmth daily.

Spring is truly here. The temperatures have risen, the sun is out a lot and women are wearing skirts again. Sunglasses everywhere you look, rose wine opening in nearly every garden, long walks, people working hard in their gardens.
The trees are now covered in young green leaves, looking very frail. Standing on the platform, waiting for the train in the brittle sunlight in the mornings and going home in the evening with the clouds glowing.
Really, this is my favourite time of the year.
